News: Nigerian Football Federation Leadership Resigns Amid Corruption Probe

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) president, general secretary and executive committee have all resigned amid a probe into concerns over governance and financial management. Outgoing president, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, announced his resignation at press conference in Abuja on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The federation will hold general elections next month to replace its president.

Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu, has ordered a “comprehensive reform” of the country’s football administration to correct “structural deficits within the system.”

FIFA | Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) | Overview

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), is the international governing body for men’s (M) and women’s association football, futsal and beach soccer on the continent of North America (including Central America) and the Caribbean. CONCACAF was officially established in 1961 in Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico; its current head office is in Miami, Florida, USA.

CONCACAF organizes and regulates club-level competitions and national team competitions in North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Among the national team competitions organized by CONCACAF are the CONCACAF Gold Cup, CONCACAF W Gold Cup, CONCACAF Nations League, CONCACAF W Nations League and the CONCACAF W Championship.

CONCACAF has 41 national member football associations and is organized into three regional confederations as follows:

North America: North American Football Union (NAFU)
Central America: Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol (UNCAF)
Caribbean: Caribbean Football Union (CFU)

The official languages of CONCACAF are English, Spanish, French and Dutch.

The Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol / South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), is the international governing body for men’s (M) and women’s association football, futsal and beach soccer in South America. CONMEBOL was officially established in 1916 in Montevideo, Uruguay; its current head office is in Luque, Paraguay.

CONMEBOL organizes and regulates club-level competitions and national team competitions in South America. Among the national team competitions organized by CONMEBOL are the Copa América and the Copa América Femenina, both of which are held every four years.

FIFA | Confederation of African Football (CAF) | Overview

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), is the international governing body for men’s (M) and women’s association football, futsal and beach soccer on the continent of Africa. Recognized by the FIFA Congress in 1954, CAF was officially established in 1957 in Khartoum, Sudan; its current head office is in 6th of October City, Giza, Egypt.

CAF organizes and regulates club-level competitions and national team competitions in Africa. Among the national team competitions organized by CAF are the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which are both held every two years (biennially).

CAF has 54 national member football associations and is organized into five regional confederations as follows:
